1. NEW AT THE POSITIVE WORDS SITE
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

We welcome new subscribers arriving daily from all
over the world. Current subscribers write...

From California: "Your home page is my start up
page, I love reading the articles you post. I really
enjoy your teaching as well as the other teacher's
articles there. Thank you for your work in the word.
Glory to God for blessing you with those talents."

From Montana: "We just listened to your teaching on
Perfect Peace (on the CD) -- really great. In fact, we
have a visitor from Japan who has accepted Christ,
whose parents are Buddhist. She loved your teaching --
God has something up His sleeve!"

From South Australia: "I was excited on reflection of
how we found you again after weeks of searching the
web and trying to remember your name. Then within days
of finding your fantastic web site to learn that my
wife had booked us in to stay within a few kilometres
of you. Then you were available for a talk and
practical advice, which we value as significant in our
lives. WOW!! God does indeed care, I was in process of
giving up on Him ... He would not let me go. So thank
you for your availability and guidance."

The Word works when you believe it! And here is
WHAT'S NEW on the site today!

The last two articles by A.T. Pierson on the subject
"In Christ Jesus". This has been a magnificent series
and is now complete and online! He discusses the
Epistles to the Thessalonians and gives a length
summary of our journey through Paul's epistles. Point
your browser to
http://www.peterwade.com/articles/pierson/icj07.shtml and enjoy!

Two articles from a new series are also online. "The
Great Experiences of Jesus' Life" by S.D. Gordon has
seven articles. The first two are "The Jordan: The
Decisive Start" (how Jesus went through the anvil of
experience) and "The Wilderness: Temptation" (how He
turned temptation to triumph). In the early 1900s,
S.D. Gordon was a widely traveled speaker in high
demand. A prolific author, he wrote more than 30
devotional books, most with the phrase "Quiet Talks"
in the title. His first book sold half a million
copies over 40 years! He died in 1936.

E.W. Kenyon said that "S.D. Gordon is a sporadic
outburst of divine grace. He is unusual, as are all of
God's rare tools... he is perfectly balanced in the
Word and in the Spirit. He represents that rare but
vanishing class of spiritually minded men of the last
generation." I can assure you of good reading followed
by plenty of thinking! Start at the contents page at
http://www.peterwade.com/articles/gordsd/exper00.shtml .

We also suggest you take a look at F.E. Marsh's
article on "The Heart of a Loving Purpose" -- "God is
love" is the foundation of Christianity, it is the
truth which separates it from all other religions. You
can find this article at
http://www.peterwade.com/articles/marsh/heart00.shtml .

2. SONGS I REMEMBER
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

"Love is in the air" is what I hear the disc jockeys
saying as St. Valentine's Day approaches. And that is
good. But even better is to have the love of God in
your heart. When you became a Christian, God's love
flooded your heart (Romans 5:5 Moffatt). This often
takes a while to soak in, as does the full assurance
that we are saved simply by believing. I can remember
the time when I became fully assured I was saved, and
I can remember the song my wife-to-be quoted to me as
explanation as to why I was seeing things from a
different point of view. The song was "I Am His, and
He is Mine", written by Rev. Wade Robinson (I wonder
if he is in my family tree?). Here's the beautiful...

I AM HIS, AND HE IS MINE

Loved with everlasting love,
Led by grace that love to know;
Spirit breathing from above,
Thou hast taught me it is so.
Oh, this full and perfect peace!
Oh, this transport all divine!
In a love which cannot cease,
I am His and He is mine.

Heav'n above is softer blue,
Earth around is sweeter green;
Something lives in every hue
Christless eyes have never seen:
Birds with gladder songs o'erflow,
Flow'rs with deeper beauties shine,
Since I know, as now I know,
I am His and He is mine.

Things that once were wild alarms
Cannot now disturb my rest;
Closed in everylasting arms,
Pillowed on the loving breast:
Oh, to lie for ever here!
Doubt and care and self resign,
While He whispers in my ear --
I am His and He is mine.

His for ever, only His;
Who the Lord and me shall part?
Ah, with what a rest of bliss,
Christ can fill the loving heart!
Heaven and earth may fade and flee
Firstborn light in gloom decline;
But while God and I shall be,
I am His and He is mine.

3. A POSITIVE WORD FOR TODAY
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

                THE PRINCIPLE OF TRUST

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart [mind] and
lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5).

It's the mind that trusts in the Lord. To trust means
to rely on, to have confidence in a person or object.
I will have confidence in God with all my mind in the
year that lies ahead. James 1:8 tells me that there
are some people who are "double-minded," who are
"unstable" in all they do. One moment they think they
should go this way and the next moment that way, and
soon they are unstable, unsure, undecided what to do.
God does not want me to be double-minded but to have a
single purpose of trusting in Him.

This is a principle that I can apply daily. It will
not cost me anything except some application, some
effort. To emphasize the totality of the trust
required in the Lord, the verse continues, "And lean
not on your own understanding." Many times I think I
know best, but it is not so. God knows best -- it's
specific and exclusive. God asks me to trust Him
totally and completely.

God's principles will prolong my life many years and
will bring me prosperity. Let me bind love and
faithfulness around my neck, let them never leave me
and help me write them on the tablet of my heart. I
will spend some time today drilling God's principles
into my mind. I have confidence in God and trust him
with all my heart and mind. (From "Outdo, Outwit, &
Outperform", Chapter 6, adapted by Hildy Matthews.)

AFFIRMATION: I have favor in the sight of God. Today
I will trust Him totally and completely.

4. SEARCHLIGHTS FROM THE WORD
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

G. Campbell Morgan was a well-known preacher and
writer from the turn of the century. In this spot each
issue we reproduce a comment from one verse in every
chapter of the Bible. We continue with the so-called
"Prison Epistles" of Paul: Ephesians, Philippians,
Colossians, Philemon.

"Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God" (Ephesians 4:30).

Two ideas are brought prominently before the mind
in this injunction, and their interrelationship is
very suggestive. The first is that of the character of
the Spirit, in that Paul here, with evident intention,
employed the full and solemn description, "the Holy
Spirit of God," every word of which is full of
meaning, while laying the supreme emphasis upon the
holiness of the Spint.
The other is that of the deep love nature of the
Spirit, in that Paul speaks of Him as being capable of
sorrow, for the simple meaning of the injunction is,
"Cause not sorrow to the Holy Spirit of God."
The interrelation of the ideas reveals to us the
effect which sin produces on the Spirit of God. It
causes sorrow. Perhaps no Apostolic injunction, if its
force be rightly apprehended, constitutes a more
prevailing incentive to a walk which is in holiness
and truth. Thus is created that new fear which is of
the very essence of safety.
The old slavish fear of God, which was fear of His
anger, all of suffering which such anger might bring
to us, is completely done away by the manifestation of
His love in Christ; but now a new fear takes
possession of us, and that is a fear lest anything we
do or say should cause sorrow to Him. The old fear
produces no high spiritual or moral results. This new
fear keeps the soul in living touch with the loving
Lord, and so ensures its growth in strength and purity
and beauty.
