CAMP MENDOCINO 1999
God blessed in a very special way at the 8-day in the
Redwoods of northern California. Campers came from
Hawaii, Florida, Nevada, Montana, Oregon, California
and Australia. Peter Wade was the morning speaker, with
the topic "Enjoy Your Bible Again", while Steve Heefner
gave three sessions on "Grow Up", Bill Morgan spoke on
"The Walk of Faith", Mark Lane on "The Disciplines of
the Christian Life" and Roslyn Singleton on "Our Potential
in Christ", illustrated by painting roses.
The key verse for the first five morning sessions was
Jeremiah 15:16, "Thy words were found and I did eat them,
and thy word was the joy and rejoicing of my heart." On
Monday, Peter shared the four food types that the Word
uses to describe itself... milk to grow on, bread to
resist temptation, meat for nourishment and honey to
attract others. The major truth was that the Bible has
One author.
Tuesday was Day 24,106 in Peter's life, his birthday. He
taught on Psalm 90:12 "So teach us to number our days"...
so he did! We discovered that it was God's desire not
only to count our days but more especially to make our
days count! The principle illustrated was Three rules to
apply in our Bible reading: Observe, Interpret, Apply.
After lunch on Tuesday the campers put on a surprise
"roast" and told outrageous stories about Peter and his
ministry visits to the USA.
Wednesday he discussed Two ways to study: Overview and
Detail. First get the big picture, the beauty of a book
such as Ephesians. Then work on the detail... the value
of a verse and the wonder of a word. Philippians 4:19
was used to illustrate the detail.
Thursday he explored Four areas to work the Word...
regarding God, Others, the Church and Ourselves. On
Friday he shared Five features of the Word from Hebrews
and Thessalonians. It's the Word of His Power, it's
Living, it's a Good Word, it is to be spoken out, and
it needs to be Free Flowing.
Saturday Peter taught on "The Word and Wealth" from
II Corinthians 8:1-15, and Roslyn Singleton and Peter
Churchill gave instances in their lives of how the Word
worked in the area of finances. Peter finished out his
Camp '99 teaching on Sunday morning by showing how the
early church used the Word from the Book of Acts.
All these teachings by Peter Wade will be available at
a later date for your listening pleasure and study.

2. SONGS I REMEMBER
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
John G. Lake stated in one of his published sermons,
"If the blessed Spirit of God keeps on revealing the
mighty power of the living Christ in the souls of men,
we will have to have a new hymnbook. We will have to
have a new class of poets in the world. It will come,
too, as surely as you are born. They used to sing dreary
old hymns in the little Scotch church when I was a boy,
and I remember one particular hymn:
Hark! From the tomb a doleful sound.
Mine ear, attend the cry.
Ye living men come view the ground
Where you must shortly lie. Ah.
Afterward I learned that the "ah" was Amen, but I did
not know it then.
Oh, bless God for the revelation of the living Christ
in the souls of men that lifts the consciousness of men
from the place of defeat into the place of power, the
exultant, present mighty power of the living God."
One of John Lake's favorite hymns was written by
William Sleeper with music by George Stebbins.
A ruler once came to Jesus by night,
To ask Him the way of salvation and light;
The Master made answer in words true and plain,
"Ye must be born again!"
"Ye must be born again!" "Ye must be born again!"
"I verily, verily, say unto thee,
Ye must be born again!"
Ye children of men, attend to this word
So solemnly uttered by Jesus, the Lord;
And let not this message to you be in vain:
"Ye must be born again!"
O ye who would enter this glorious rest,
And sing with the ransomed the song of the blest;
The life everlasting if ye would obtain,
"Ye must be born again!"

3. A POSITIVE WORD FOR TODAY
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
THE PERPETUAL SPRING NEVER RUNS DRY
"Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again,
but whoever drinks the water I give him will never
thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in
him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
(John 4:13-14)
In His encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well,
Jesus uses as an illustration the drawing of water from
the well. He contrasted it with the life he was making
available that would not need to be "topped up" daily,
or even weekly at the prayer meeting. He said that
without any help from me, without any daily drawing of
water, there would be a "spring of water welling up
(flowing, bubbling) continually within" (Amplified).
The Living Bible renders it as "a perpetual spring."
What a vivid word picture on which to meditate!
Jesus did not say, "will never thirst IF." The only
condition to be fulfilled is: "whoever drinks the water
I give him" - and drinking is the act of receiving His
gift.
Later, in a discussion with the Jews, Jesus stated, "I
am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go
hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty"
(John 6:35). Again, the only conditions are to come to
Him and believe on Him, and I "will never be hungry and
will never thirst any more--at any time" (Amplified
Bible).
I get excited when I think about this completeness, this
infinite supply. Every day and in every way the spring
within me is working. Without any conscious effort from
me, the "perpetual spring" keeps bubbling and flowing -
and never runs dry. God's gift is complete, it is self-
perpetuating, it is infinite supply.
(From "You Are A New Creation", Chapter 1, adapted by
Hildy Matthews.)
AFFIRMATION: God has provided me with a fountain of
living water.
