MIRACLES IN A NUTSHELL
"But ye shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you"
(Acts 1:8).
In a book on prayer, James Dillet Freeman made this statement, "I
said to the Master, 'How do I turn on the power of God?' The
Master said, 'How did you turn it off?'" There is the truth about
miracles in a nutshell.
The Book of Acts records, "Now Stephen, a man full of God's
grace and power, did great wonders and miraculous signs among the
people" (Acts 6:8). And in Acts 8:6 we read "When the crowds
heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid
close attention to what he said" (Acts 8:6).
Paul's prayer for all believers is "that you may know... his
incomparably great power for us who believe" (Ephesians 1:18-19).
How do I consciously operate that power in my life? How do I
get a song to sing? I open my mouth and start singing. How do I
catch fish? I cast in my bait and wait. How can I grow delicious
apples? I plant the seed and see that it gets warmth and light.
How can I get it to rain with divine prospering ideas? I can seed
the clouds of my life with believing and expectation--I can dig
ditches!
So long as I am expecting a miracle from somewhere out beyond
myself, I am going to be in a stretching, straining, stressful
situation, begging God for the help I need in my life. But when I
recognize that miracles are a manifestation of God's power
within, there will be more miracles in a day than my heart can
dream of. The difference in emphasis is the key to setting the
stage for miracles, to setting the stage for life to be one
continuous miracle. (From "You Are A New Creation", Chapter 5, by
Peter Wade, adapted by Hildy Matthews.)
AFFIRMATION: My life can be one continuous miracle. Today I
will set the stage by seeding the clouds of my life with
believing and expectation.

G. Campbell Morgan was a well-known preacher and writer of over
60 books from the first half of the 20th century. In this spot
each issue we reproduce a comment from one verse in every chapter
of the Bible. We continue with Paul's first letter to Timothy.
"Supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings" (I Timothy
2:1)
These four words are not synonymous. They all describe activities
of the soul in the presence of God, and so are synthetic. Each
has its own peculiar value and suggestion. In the first and last,
activities are described in which all unite out of a common
experience. In the second, an activity which largely leaves
behind the sense of human need. In the third, an activity which
excludes personal need and includes the needs of others.
Supplications are requests which express a need in which all
those offering them share. In my own view they refer to the
deepest spiritual needs, for cleansing, for spiritual enablement,
of which all worshippers are conscious as they approach the Holy
Place. Prayers here are the distinct acts of worship, in which
the saints offer pure praise to God. The sense of need is for the
moment forgotten, and the sense of the majesty and mercy of God
call forth adoration. Intercessions are those requests for others
which are the expression of love for them, begotten of love for
God, and in which those offering them are entirely forgetful of
their own personal needs. Thanksgivings are those glad
outpourings of grateful hearts in which they remember the Giver
of all gifts, and render to Him the returns of expressed
gratitude which are ever acceptable to Him.
As we said, they are all exercises of the soul in the presence
of God, and the variety of their suggestion helps us to realize
how rich and glorious is the privilege of our access to God
through Christ.

3. A l i v i n g f a c t
-----------------------------------------------------------------
When Jesus was crucified, He took my place as a sinner.
He bore my sins in his body on the tree; He bore my shame that
came through my union with Satan; He bore my diseases that Satan
had put upon me; He bore my judgment which was mine, because of
my union with God’s enemy.
When He died, He carried all this off into the land of
Forgetfulness and He rose because He had put all this away.
He not only put my sin away, my shame and my diseases, but He
put the away—-the old me—-me, the sinner.
He put my sin nature away.
He put my infirmities away along with my sin, sicknesses, and
diseases, so that now I stand with Him and in Him as free from
them as He was free when He rose.
A NEW CREATION
His justification is my justification; His righteousness is my
righteousness; His health is my health; His freedom from Satan’s
dominion is my freedom; His freedom from condemnation is my
freedom from condemnation; His freedom from infirmities is my
freedom from infirmities; for in Him I enjoy all that He did and
all that He now is.
All that He did, He did for me.
Let me state it again:
JESUS, MY SUBSTITUTE
If He bore my sins, I do not need to bear them; If He bore my
sin nature, I do not need to bear it; If He bore my infirmities,
I do not need to carry them;--If I DO bear them, then He died for
naught.
So when I accepted Him as my Saviour, confessed Him as my
Lord, and was baptized into His Name, I was baptized into His
standing before the Father.
I was baptized into His righteousness that He wrought; I was
baptized into His justification; baptized into His health for the
body, soul and spirit; I was baptized into the victory that He
had won over Satan; I was baptized into all He means to the
Father, for He died representatively for me; and now, He reigns
up there, representatively for me.
As He is my representative up there, now, I am His
representative here in the earth.
He has put me, and mine, and all the sin, that was in me,
away, and He has given me all that was His; all that He did, all
that He was, so that “as He is now, so am I in this world.”
THE STRUGGLE IS OVER
It does not require any faith on my part to enjoy this,
because He gave it to me; it is mine, and what is mine I do not
have to have faith to obtain, for I have already obtained it; I
am in possession of it.
All I need to do is praise Him for it, and when I praise Him
and thank Him for it, then the thing becomes operative in my
life.
So now, I stand before God and the angels-—yes, and before
Satan-—clothed in Christ, hidden in Christ, enwrapped in Christ.
Think what it means! His Name is the Name of the Conqueror,
and I am baptized into this Name, and bear this Name; I bear the
Name of the Conqueror.
“For as many as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
I have put on Christ; Christ tabernacles Himself over me.
“It is no longer I then that live but Christ liveth in me.”
“Wherefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.”
Then, I am a new creature, and that new creature is seated
with Christ.
“Old things have passed away.”
The old things of weakness, the old things of failure, the old
things of impotence, the old things of unbelief, are passed away
while the new things of faith, the new things of life, the new
things of health for body, soul, and spirit are mine.
I live in the new realm where the new things are a reality.
“And that life I now live, I live by faith in the Son of God
Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
I do not have to TAKE this position; I am in this position.
I do not have to struggle for it, believe for it, die daily
for it, for I am in it--it is mine. Mine because when I was horn
again, and baptized into the Name of the Lord Jesus, I was born
into it, I was baptized into it, and I am in it. Hallelujah! --
E.W. Kenyon.

EXPECTATION -- THE KEY TO BELIEVING GOD
(From the out-of-print booklet by Peter Wade.)
Imagine a farmer with his plow, and hour after hour he is plowing
in the field. He is doing this work in expectation that there
will be a harvest. If he was convinced that those seeds would not
grow, do you think he would take the time to go out and plow,
perhaps just so that the other farmers could see that he knew how
to plow? No, he would not waste his time. But if he believes that
the seeds will grow, he plows in expectation; he plows with the
distinct understanding that this is the necessary and logical
thing to do, because there is going to be a harvest.
The same agricultural illustration is brought to our notice in
I Corinthians 9:10: "...he that plows ought to be plowing in
expectation; and he that threshes should be partaker of his
expectation." ... Read the whole article at

"THE BLOOD OF ABEL" AND "THE WAY OF CAIN"
(The final chapter from Bullinger's "Great Cloud of Witnesses" on
Abel: Faith's Worship of God).
"By means of which [faith] he was borne witness to as being
righteous; God bearing witness to His gifts."
"We have spoken of the witness which God gave; we have now to
speak of the witness that Abel obtained: viz., that he was
righteous. It is true that Adam had stood in a different
category. He had been created (not begotten) in "the likeness of
Elohim;" and created in Paradise: but Abel and Cain had both
alike been begotten in Adam's own likeness; and were begotten
outside Paradise ...
"From this point therefore our object-lesson begins. This is
why it is the first great lesson set before us. This is why it
stands on the forefront of God's revelation. It is not a question
here, or indeed elsewhere, about what man has done. It is wholly
and altogether a question only of what man IS."
