... the realities of Christ in you and you in Christ!

It's November already! For our US friends, the fourth Thursday is the most significant day this month -- Thanksgiving -- and we need plenty of that. For our English friends, November 5th gets the nod -- Guy Fawkes Day -- commemorating the Gun Powder Plot of 1605 to blow up the Houses of Parliament and all its members plus the visiting King! (For the record, it was unsuccessful!) For our Australian friends, who strive to keep their priorities in order, two days are special this year: the first Tuesday in November, the Melbourne Cup horse race that stops the nation, and then November 10th, the Federal election.
And every day can be special for you this month, wherever you live. You can expand your awareness of what it means to be in Christ, and allow Christ to daily live through you and as you.
...By the way, we've now been on the web for over six years! Thank you, Father.

INSIGHTS FROM PETER WADE
-----------------------------------------------------------------
HEALING COMES FROM WITHIN
"And if [since] the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you" (Romans 8:11)
Romans chapter 8 is one of the highlight passages of the New Testament. The passage has much to say about victorious Christian living--the triumph of the Spirit within over the apparent limitations of everyday life. The future resurrection of the believer is not in view here, and the careful reader will recognize God's choice of words that make it evident that the present is under discussion.
The King James Version reads, "... he...shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you". John Calvin, noted as a Greek scholar, said concerning verse 11, "The quickening of the mortal body here cannot refer to the resurrection of the saints, but must mean a giving of life to their bodies, while here upon earth, through the Spirit."
It is the work of the Spirit within to give life, and in Romans 8:11 it is to fill the physical body with the vibrant life of God--real vim, vigor, and vitality.
The word "mortal" never means "dead" but rather something that is "subject to death." There is a Greek word for a dead human body, but it is not employed in Romans 8:11. The word "mortal" appeared earlier in Romans 6:12, "let not sin reign in your mortal body." Dead bodies do not sin, but bodies subject to death do sin. While we live there is every opportunity for His life to be revealed in bodies which are subject to death.
The Spirit of God that is resident within me gives life to my body, and this includes when disease is present. The great impact of this truth has not been grasped by the majority of believers. (From "You Are A New Creation", Chapter 5, by Peter Wade, adapted by Hildy Matthews.)
AFFIRMATION: God's healing power is not something to be sought from an outside source. I now understand that healing is a power that I can bring into action from within.

INSIGHTS FROM EVERY BOOK OF THE BIBLE
-----------------------------------------------------------------
G. Campbell Morgan was a well-known preacher and writer of over
60 books from the first half of the 20th century. In this spot
each issue we reproduce a comment from one verse in every chapter
of the Bible. We continue with Paul's second letter to Timothy.
"No soldier on service entangleth himself in the affairs of this life" (II Timothy 2:4)
This word of Paul took on new meaning for many of us during the years of the First World War. Indeed, today it seems to some of us as though we had never seen it at all before. Of course, we had seen it, and we had given it a certain conventional interpretation. Our thinking, however, of what was included in the phrase "the affairs of this life," was very superficial in many cases. We thought of certain liberties and comforts, which the soldier is denied; and, of course, that thinking was correct so far as it went. We needed the stern and awe-inspiring experiences of those dread years to enable us to apprehend the full content of the phrase.
Now we know that nothing is left out. The soldier on active service breaks with everything except the War. We saw them go in millions, leaving father, mother, brother, sister, wife, and lover; we saw them march away from promising careers, loved occupations, high ambitions, and the finest things of responsibility. Nothing was permitted to entangle them, to hinder them, or in any way to interfere with the one thing.
This new understanding has brought a new revelation of the claims which our Lord's campaign makes upon us. He only asks His people to do what the sons of the Commonwealth did, ungrudgingly. Does not the consideration bring a sense of shame with it? How often those who should constitute the sacramental host of God have played at war! May God forgive us, and give us another chance! And if in His grace He will, may we be worthy of it!
