INSIGHTS FROM MY WRITING
------------------------------------------------------------
UNDERSTANDING THE MEANING
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who
has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly
places in Christ" (Ephesians 1:3).
Unless I understand the meaning of "renewing the mind", I am
not going to enjoy my relationship, rights and privileges as a
son of God. God said I am justified, I am sanctified, that I
am redeemed; God said I am blessed with all spiritual
blessings in the heavenlies; God said He shall supply all my
need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus; God
said He wished that above all things I may prosper and be in
health as my soul prospers. All these tremendous truths of the
Word will have no effect in my life until I first renew my
mind to what the Word declares. The statements are eternally
true but will not become a reality to me until I renew my mind
and act upon them.
Renewing the mind means the replacement of my old values
with the attitudes, beliefs, and concepts of God as revealed
in his Word. It does not mean my ability to quote the Word
from memory. Nor is it just reading the Word. As someone once
said, "It is not how often I have gone through the Word that
counts, but how often the Word has gone through me!"
I have seen that Satan's primary attack will be against my
mind. And the mind is the only territory over which I have
complete control. It is therefore imperative that I learn how
to win the battle between the senses and the Word of God.
It has been well said that there is a three-man committee
of which I am the chairman. One is voting against the
victorious life--that one is the knowledge gained by the five
senses and prompted by Satan; another One is voting for my
victorious life--that is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ. However, one vote each way is a tie, and the chairman
must cast the casting vote, and whichever way he votes wins
the motion. So my vote does have value!
I, as chairman, can vote on the side of the five senses--
I do this every time I agree with the illusion of lack or the
outward circumstances or the physical pain. On the other hand,
as chairman, I can vote on the side of the Word--I do this
every time I renew my mind to that Word. (From "Renewing Your
Mind", Chapter 1, by Peter Wade, adapted by Hildy Matthews.)
AFFIRMATION: I am beginning to understand the meaning of
"renewing my mind". This is not a one-time deal. I will fill
my mind with what God says in His Word, however long it takes.

INSIGHTS FROM EVERY BOOK OF THE BIBLE (G. Campbell Morgan)
------------------------------------------------------------
G. Campbell Morgan was a well-known preacher and writer of
over 60 books from the first half of the 20th century. In each
issue he gives a comment from one verse in every chapter of
the Bible. We continue with Paul's second letter to the
Corinthians.
" This... veil... is done away in Christ" (II Cor. 3:14).
This is a superlative statement of the perfection and
permanence of the glory of Christ. The illustration is taken
from the story of how Moses veiled his face when speaking to
the people, after he descended from the Mount. The reason for
that veiling was not that they should not see the shining of
his face, but that they should not see that it was passing
away. They saw the shining and it was so glorious that they
were filled with fear, and Moses did not put the veil on until
he "had done speaking with them" (Exodus 34:33). Paul
distinctly says that the veil was worn by Moses, "that the
children of Israel should not look steadfastly on the end of
that which was passing away." They looked on the glory, and
then it was veiled, and the sense of the glory remained. Had
they seen it pass, that sense would have been lost.
This interprets these words: "This... veil... is done away
in Christ." It is done away because His glory has no waning;
it does not pass away. The ministration of Moses, that is, of
the law, is that of condemnation. The ministration of Christ,
that is, of grace, is that of righteousness. The former has a
glory, and it is sublime, but there is no hope in it for
sinning men; and so it passes, for it leaves them sinners. The
latter has a glory, more sublime, for there is hope in it for
sinning men; and so it never passes, for it makes them
righteous. Because of the finality of the glory of Christ, He
lifts an unveiled face upon men.
