INSIGHTS FROM MY WRITING
------------------------------------------------------------

                    AN IMAGE OF GLORY

"But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the
glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from
glory to glory; just as by the Spirit of the Lord"
(II Corinthians 3:18).

This is the last verse in the chapter and the last verse of the
section, and as such the verse must be taken in the context of
the whole. Even a quick reading will reveal the contrast of the
glory of the old ministry with the glory of the ministry of the
spirit, the ministry of righteousness.
"For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is
much more glorious. Therefore, since we have such hope, we use
great boldness of speech -- unlike Moses, who put a veil over his
face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at
the end of what was passing away. But their minds were blinded.
For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading
of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.
But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their
heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is
taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of
the Lord is, there is liberty" (II Corinthians 3:11-17).
We are to glory in what God has done for us in Christ, and as
we look into the mirror of His Word and renew our minds to it,
then we put on a new figure, a new form, and start showing the
same image as our Lord, an image of glory. The word "transformed"
was well chosen by God to teach us much about renewing the mind.
The other usage in the New Testament for "transformed" is the
record of the transfiguration of Jesus in Matthew 17:2 and Mark
9:2. "... and He was transfigured before them. His face shone
like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light"
(Matthew 17:2).
As Peter, James and John observed the vision, they saw Jesus
in a new form, a new figure, and I am sure their brief
description did not do justice to the brilliance of what they
saw. God must have chosen this word "transformed" so that I might
get a glimpse of the reality that can be mine as a child in God's
family. Instead of living a life on the information gained by my
five senses, or bound to earth in a caterpillar existence, I am
commanded to get a new form in my mind: "... but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2). (From "Renewing Your
Mind", Chapter 2, by Peter Wade, adapted by Hildy Matthews.)
AFFIRMATION: God tells me how I can change from a life bound
to ungodliness and worldly lusts into an image of glory. I will
obey His command and be transformed by the renewing of my mind.

REGISTRATIONS CLOSE THIS MONTH!
------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, 30th November is the final date for registrations for the
2003 International Bible Conference, January 3-9, at Halls Gap,
Victoria, Australia. And ALL fees, not just the registration fee,
are payable by 30th November. After that date we will re-assign
places which have not been paid for. If you are not coming and
wish your registration fee returned, we need to know before the
30th November. Thanks!
All the information is ONLINE -- follow the link from our new
Home Page. HURRY! ***

Peter Wade and Norman Campbell are the main speakers. The teaching
will be HUGE and expanding! But you won't have to line up early
to find a seat in a 2,000-seat auditorium. This conference is
deliberately SMALL and intimate -- the speakers are not hidden
away but mingle with you every day. You will grow up in Christ as
you rub shoulders with other like-minded believers. There will be
good music (bring your guitars and fingers!), good fun, and good
fellowship. This will be six days that you will remember all your
life!

INSIGHTS FROM EVERY BOOK OF THE BIBLE (G. Campbell Morgan)
------------------------------------------------------------

G. Campbell Morgan was a well-known preacher and writer of over
60 books from the first half of the 20th century. In each issue
he gives a comment from one verse in every chapter of the Bible.
We continue with Paul's second letter to the Corinthians.

"We take thought for things honourable... in the sight of men"
(II Corinthians 8:21).

This is a principle which should ever be observed in all the
business and financial matters of the Christian Church. The
subject was that of the collecting of funds. Titus was appointed
to this work, but he was not to go alone. Paul, in conjunction
with the churches interested, appointed another to go with him;
and the reason was that all the monetary matters of the churches
should be dealt with in such a way as to give no ground of
suspicion to men of the world. Christian men will act in all
these matters in the sight of their Lord, and that to other
Christians is sufficient guarantee of their integrity and
uprightness.
But men of the world do not understand that. They look for the
guarantees of the oversight of man by man. They are not prepared
to accept the view that a man who trusts in God is to be trusted.
Therefore it is the business of the Christian community to do its
business in such a way that these men of the world shall have no
cause to suspect anything contrary to righteousness in its
affairs. This is at once a tribute to the supremacy of
righteousness, and an acknowledgment of the fact that men are
able to appreciate that which is righteous. Titus and the one
appointed to act with him needed no watching in order to make
them straightforward; but the fact that they were so, needed to
be vindicated to all men. Therefore they were to travel and to
act together. This is very practical, and very important. It is
the warrant for the careful auditing of all Church accounts.

A LITTLE HUMOR TO FINISH...
------------------------------------------------------------

It's been a couple of years since we included any humor, so
here's a small taste of humor and parables...

A woman was asked by a co-worker, "What is it like to be a
Christian?"
The co-worker replied, "It is like being a pumpkin. God picks
you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of
you. Then he cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky
stuff. He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc., and
then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside
of you to shine for all the world to see."

--------------------------

A little girl was sitting on her grandfather's lap as he read her
a goodnight story. From time to time, she would take her eyes off
the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek. Then, she
would touch her own cheek, thoughtfully.
Finally she spoke, "Grandpa, did God make you?"
"Yes, sweetheart," he answered, "God made me a long time ago."
"Did God make me too?" she asked.
"Yes, indeed, honey," he answered. "God made you just a little
while ago."
She touched his face and then her own again.
"He's getting better at it, isn't He?" she said ...

---------------------------

Minister: Do you know what's in the Bible?
Little Girl: Yes. I think I know everything that's in it.
Minister: You do? Tell me.
Little Girl: OK. There's a picture of my brother's girlfriend, a
ticket from the dry cleaners, one of my curls, and a Pizza Hut
coupon.

The Rev. Billy Graham tells of at time early in his career when
he arrived in a small town to preach a sermon.
Wanting to mail a letter, he asked a young boy where the post
office was.
When the boy told him, Rev. Graham thanked him and said, "If
you'll come to the Baptist church this evening, you can hear me
telling everyone how to get to Heaven."
"I don't think I'll be there," the boy said. "You don't even
know your way to the post office."
