Editor: Peter Wade ----- http://www.peterwade.com ----- ... the realities of Christ in you and you in Christ! ----- http://www.inChristRadio.net ----- Positive biblical teaching 24 hours, 7 days a week Thank you... for your prayers for our 2003 International Bible Conference, January 3-9, Halls Gap, Victoria, Australia. Teachings at the conference by Peter Wade will be available next month. Special offer... The economists tell us that this year will be a challenging one financially for the western nations and for the emerging economies. To help you through any coming storm, we want you to have a copy of Peter Wade's book Four Keys To Prosperity. This is the most balanced book on finances that you will find on the market today. The apostle Paul had plenty to say about giving and receiving, and this is our best book on the subject. Its a beautifully produced 64-page book, with a gold silk embossed cover and eight one-page mini-posters of significant verses. Just four words sum up the contents: Attitude, Action, Amount, Affirmation. Here's how to get your copy... Make a gift of any amount to Positive Word Ministries and we'll mail you the book from California. Just click on this special link to go to http://www.paypal.com/, and send a gift. It's just that simple! Why are we using this method? Because your gift is an investment in your own future, "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35), because it is more productive. God multiplies the seed sown (II Corinthians 9:10), but nothing multiplied still equals nothing! So you need to give in order to receive. [Offer closes 31st January 2003]. Insights from my writing... The Mind, the Emotions and the Will "Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely and may your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ" (I Thessalonians 5:23). There is one further word in the positive command of Romans 12:2 whose meaning and usage we need to understand, and that is the word "mind". The Greek word is nous, and its general meaning is the organ of thinking and knowledge, the understanding. With the exception of Luke 24:45 and Revelation 13:18 and 17:9, it occurs only in the Church Epistles. The Word of God gives three major divisions to the whole person -- spirit, soul and body (I Thessalonians 5:23). The spirit is perfect and complete; it is indivisible and unspecialized. The soul is generally agreed to comprise the mind, the emotions, and the will, while the body is composed of flesh, blood and bones. With a believer, the spirit is God’s gift, Christ in you, and needs no maintenance. The body in which the real believer lives has not been forgotten by the Father, for He has made a provision of divine health -- and if this is laid aside there is divine healing available. However, as we have seen, the believer is commanded to renew the mind, and the extent to which the mind is renewed will be its effect upon the emotions and the will, functions of the mind. The Bible has much to say about the emotions and how they must be controlled by the renewing of the mind. Likewise, the Bible says much about the will, that we should do the will of our Father. "Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is" (Ephesians 5:17). To be foolish or unwise is to become thoughtless, reckless, or imprudent, as the word is variously translated. On the contrary, I should make a definite effort to understand, to know, to discern what is the will of God. Then I can renew my mind to that will and confess it positively, and so bring to pass the victory that the Word promises. (From "Renewing Your Mind", Chapter 2, by Peter Wade, adapted by Hildy Matthews.) Affirmation: My soul is comprised of my mind, my emotions and my will. Today as I renew my mind to God’s Word I will see my thoughts and my emotions aligned closer to God’s will for me. Insights From Every Book Of The Bible... G. Campbell Morgan was a well-known preacher and writer of over 60 books from the first half of the 20th century. In each issue he gives a comment from one verse in every chapter of the Bible. We continue with Paul's second letter to the Corinthians. "Not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth" (II Corinthians 10:18). In this chapter we find Paul dealing with subjects which were very immediate. There were those in the Corinthian Church who were discounting his authority, or rather attempting to do so, by declaring that he could write a letter, but that personally he carried no weight. To this charge he replied quite definitely that his letters exactly expressed himself. Then he dealt with the principles upon which men should test themselves, and they may thus be stated. First, the opinion of others concerning a man is no true standard of what a man really is. Again, a man cannot discover the truth about himself by comparing himself with others. Finally, and this is in the words of our verse, a man's commendation of him self is of no value. It is only when the Lord's judgment is sought, and is found to commend, that a man may be sure he is approved. This holds us right up to the highest law of life, as it carries all the other ideas to a true conclusion. I may claim freedom from bondage to the opinion of others, but that is of no value unless I submit to the judgment of the Lord. The measure in which I cease judging myself by comparing myself with others, is the measure in which I need to seek to know the Lord's thought of me. Not what does my neighbour think of me; not how do I compare with others; not what do I think of myself; but what does the Lord think of me, is the thing that matters. -- G. When the three wise guys from the East Side arrived, they found Jesus in the manager. Jesus was born because Mary had an emaculate contraption. St. John, the Blacksmith, dumped water on his head. Jesus enunciated the Golden Rule, which says to do one to others before--they do one to you. He also explained, "Man doth not live by sweat alone." It was a miracle when Jesus rose from the dead and managed to get the tombstone off the entrance. The people who followed the Lord were called the 12 decibels. A Christian should have only one wife. This is called monotony. The epistles were the wives of the apostles. One of the opossums was St. Matthew, who was by profession a taximan. When Mary heard that she was the Mother of Jesus, she sang the Magna Carta. St. Paul cavorted to Christianity. He preached holy acrimony, which is another name for marriage.
