My Father is rich in houses and lands,
He holdeth the wealth of the world in His hands,
Of rubies and diamonds, of silver and gold
His coffers are full, He has riches untold.

I'm the child of a King, I'm the child of a King,
With Jesus my Saviour, I'm the child of a King.

My Father's own Son, the Saviour of men
Once wandered on earth as the poorest of them,
But now He is reigning for ever on high
And will give me a home in Heaven by and by.

I once was an outcast, a stranger on earth!
A sinner by choice, and an alien by birth,
But I've been adopted, my name's written down,
An heir to a mansion, a robe, and a crown!

A tent or a cottage, why should I care?
They're building a palace for me over there.
Tho' exile from home, yet still I may sing,
All glory to God, I'm the child of a King!

Renewing the Mind Course 101

"We are asking God that you may see things, as it were, from his point of view" (Colossians 1:9 Phillips translation).

God has supplied me with a basic course on how to renew my mind. The textbook is God’s Word and I need to listen to God’s revelation knowledge. With Christ in me I have received all spiritual things, in order that I can enjoy the life that is more than abundant.
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).
The substance of the course in "Renewing the Mind 101" is simply "Seven Ways to Renew the Mind".
     1. Feed the mind with God’s Word
     2. Control Your Thoughts
     3. Practice the Presence of God
     4. Rejoice
     5. Live Love
     6. Act -– not re-act!
     7. Be enthusiastic.
The substance of the course appears to be very much like the way I felt when I first received Christ into my life. I rejoiced and was enthusiastic and wanted to live love and practice the presence of God. I did not believe I would ever need anything else. And then Satan came along to disturb my plans. I now see why God has presented me with a way to achieve an abundant life and a way to be transformed by the renewing of my mind.
"Then Jesus turned round and said to Peter, 'Out of my way, Satan!... you stand right in my path, Peter, when you look at things from man’s point of view and not from God’s'" (Matthew 16:23 Phillips).
I know now that man’s point of view is to accept the appearance of outward circumstances. I know that God’s point of view is to see me as He has made me –- victorious, prosperous and powerful. "... that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting" (Ephesians 4:14). (From "Renewing Your Mind", Chapter 6, by Peter Wade, adapted by Hildy Matthews.)
Affirmation: In order to have God’s victory, I will stand firm and let nothing move me. Even though I live in a world that is doing its utmost to "toss me to and fro", I give myself fully to the work of the Lord.

Insights from Every Chapter in the Bible
G. Campbell Morgan was a well-known preacher and writer of over 60 books from the first half of the 20th century. In each issue he gives a comment from one verse in every chapter of the Bible. We continue with Paul's letter to the Romans.

"God shall judge the secrets of men, according to my Gospel, by Jesus Christ" (Romans 2:16).

In this declaration the phrase "according to my Gospel" is a parenthetical qualification. The statement is that "God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ." This fact Paul declares to be part of the Gospel. Here we have a wonderful instance of the merging of the elements of the grace and severity of God in the Gospel. The Gospel is the good news that God has made righteousness available to sinful men through Christ. But the Gospel is also the declaration of the fact that men will be judged by the One through Whom that grace has been made available. There we see the finality of the Gospel message. The Saviour is to be the judge.
Let us put that in another way. The judge is the Saviour. He Whose eternal right it is to sit as judge of men has in His Son provided perfect redemption for men. By so doing He has not relinquished His right as judge, but has established it. If men refuse His salvation, the justice of His sentence against them cannot be called in question. All men must meet Him as judge, but before they do so He comes to meet them with a righteous and just way of saving them from their sins. If they refuse that salvation, the Gospel declares that by so doing they have not escaped Him as judge. The Gospel never lowers the standards of Divine requirements. It makes them possible of realization. If it be refused, then the Saviour as judge condemns and punishes.
